Justice Dongban Mensem Biography
Born on the 13th of June, 1957, Monica Bolna'an Dongban-Mensem is a Nigerian judge and the current Acting President of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria.Her father, M. B. Douglas-Mensem is a retired Appeal Court judge.
She has a LL.B and LL.M from the Ahmadu Bello University, and moved to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London for a postgraduate diploma.
Justice Mensem founded a road safety organisation, the Road Safety Demand (KRSD) after loosing her first son, Samson Kwapda’as Dongban to a motor accident.
She was appointed the acting president of the Court of Appeal on the 5th of March, 2020 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was after the retirement of Zainab Bulkachuwa, and the swearing in was done by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad on the 6th of March.
The National Judicial Council recommended her to President Buhari for confirmation as Appeal Court President in April 2020. Her appointment was extended by another three months.
