A PayPal account is a payment gateway that you can use to send and receive money from clients, friends and anybody.

There are other alternatives such as Payza, Skrill and Payoneer and they all have their upsides and downsides.

Disadvantages Of Using PayPal

If there are advantages of course, there will be disadvantages.
Some of the downsides of using a PayPal account in Nigeria include:
  • Account limitations

If you don't do things right, your account could get limited and the funds withheld.

This is a major problem, and it is not advised to leave money that you cannot afford to loose in the account.
  • Charges

PayPal charges are getting out of hand, and we can't do anything about it.

How To Set Up A PayPal Nigerian Business Account

Many people are using the PayPal Nigerian merchant account, but I'm yet to try it.

I gave up on Nigerian PayPal accounts when I had several issues (yet couldn't do anything about it) receiving money.

I had worked for an Indian man in 2017, and he was to pay me via PayPal. Boldly visiting their official website, I created my personal account and  gave him the email.
He tried sending money to no avail, and they told him I could only receive funds from my website.

On their official website, there are no guidelines on how to do that, and I had to receive the money from Fiverr.
They charges were also hectic, but it was better than loosing everything.

Does PayPal Work In Nigeria?

The answers are yes, and no!
It is yes, if you just need an account for sending money, and no if you want to receive with it.

However, where there is a will, there is a way!

So I can say PayPal works very fine in Nigeria.

I have been using it since 2017, and never had any unusual issues or glitches.
