There are over 101 working ways to make money online as a student in Nigeria.
While many of them will distract your studies, there are also many others that you can use your spare time to sort out, and make good money monthly.

Generally, making money online involves three things:-

  • Working with your sweat, mainly for beginners who do not have cash to invest yet. You take your time to do most of the jobs.
  • Investing your cash. This is for people who see their internet businesses from the eye of entrepreneurship. They pay for the services and advertisements. then they reap the profit.
  • Investing both your money and your time. I advise this for every serious internet entrepreneur.
However, you cannot do much as a student.

Owning to the epileptic electricity, and the irregular schedules in campuses, you might be having difficulties on how to work well to make money online as a student in Nigeria.

We will however not limit ourselves all because data is expensive, and electricity irregular.

We will be checking out some of the most amazing ways to make money online as a student in Nigeria.

7 Easiest Ways To Make Money Online As A Student

There are a lot of ways to make money online as a Nigerian student.

Some of them include:
  • Blogging

Blogging is one of the most lucrative ways of making money online today. It is also my favourite, because it gives you access to a lot of others.

Take for instance, you can use your blog to promote your affiliate links, and make good money from it. You can as well use it as a digital marketing channel, or for the promotion of your web and software development projects.

Now, what is blogging?

It is simply the owning and monetising of a blog. You can be writing on anything - fashion, entertainment, business, agriculture, entertainment and every other thing.

If you want to learn how to grow your blog to $500+ monthly revenue, you can check out this article.
  • Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is another top way of making money online, even as a student. You can be writing for people on Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, LinkedIn and even their own websites.

A lot of people love freelance writing because it is less committing, and you can work at your own frequence.

However, you still have to put in a lot of efforts if you want to be making good money from the hustle.
  • Web Development

You can also make money online from web development, even as a student. You can learn how to create websites with WordPress (I taught that in this ebook).

It takes me an average of 6 hours to create a website, and I ₦25,000.

The general cost of production doesn't take more than ₦16,000, so we can be talking of a profit of ₦9,000 in 6 hours.
I also use my affiliate link to purchase the hosting packages, and I earn commissions for that. Aside that, some websites take me only ₦14,000 to set up, so most times I make a gain of ₦12,000 in few hours.

WP sites are basically the second less complex websites to build, after Blogger. There are also people who are into full WordPress development, and charge ₦300,000+ per website.

Of course, you can learn that too even as a student. You only need your data and steady electricity, and you will be taking care of yourself.
  • Software Development

If you can learn and master some programming languages, you can be able to create professional mobile and PC software for clients.
I am not into it, but researches show you can make more than ₦200,000 for each software you develop, and sometimes you will be paid to manage it.

Even if you don't want to work with Nigerians, there are lots of people on Fiverr, Upwork and other job boards looking to hire professionals.
In fact, I prefer working for foreign clients because they do not meet me personally. Nobody will know that they are working with a 19-year old undergraduate... and who even cares?

If you are interested, there are lots of schools offering the course, or you can even go to Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Codecademy, edX and Skillshare.

Some of them are free, and they rest are just so affordable.
  • Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is another huge way of making money online, and you do not need much capital to begin.

It is all about referring customers to sellers of products and services, and earning commissions from that.

I published a post yesterday about the 10 most lucrative affiliate programs for Nigerians, and you can be earning as much as ₦200,000 monthly.

How Can You Start Affiliate Marketing As A Nigerian?

To begin affiliate marketing, all you need to do is pick up some affiliate marketing networks you'd love to work with.
Some of them would require you have a blog or another defined source of traffic before you can be let it, while the rest just let you in to come and do your best.

For the first, you can consider creating a blog and growing it first, while trying out other ways of monetising it.
  • Dropshipping

Dropshipping is another huge way of making money online, and you will be needing a website to help make it a success.
It involves a kind of internet marketing where you sell what you don't have, and then purchase and ship once you get an order.

You do not need to touch the products at all.
Let's say you want to dropship shoes, you go to Aliexpress, check out affordable, quality shoes.

You advertise them on Facebook, Twitter, by mail or anyways you choose, and once you get an order, you place it on Aliexpress, entering the customer's shipping address.

There are a lot of things you need to put into consideration before choosing a product to dropship.
Some things such as the competition, highly competitive products means better potential.
Basically, if it is not competitive, either demand is low, or there is low profit margin, or shipping costs are high.

No matter what it is, you're sure you don't want to get business losses before even stepping in.
  • Digital Marketing

We are in the internet age, and digital marketing is gradually taking over the scene.
It involves the marketing of intangible digital products such as videos, podcasts, ebooks and software.

There is no much thing involved in digital marketing, but you need to be really good at it if you must make waves as a Nigerian digital marketer.

Whatever you are doing on the internet, remember that your packaging and professionalism matter a lot.
No one will patronise you just because you are a student, and you can avoid talking about that except when necessary.
Thanks a lot for reading along.
