#EndSARS Becomes Hotter As 100,000 Nigerians Unfollow President Buhari On Twitter

In what appears like the biggest trend of the year, more than 100,000 Nigerians have unfollowed President Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter. This is coming in less than an hour after Nigerian writer, lawyer and television presenter, Reno Omokri started the #UnfollowBuhari campaign as part of his contribution towards the trending call to put an end to police harassment, brutality and extrajudicial killings.

The tweet, which has already garnered thousands of retweets has made Nigeria's number 1 citizen lose over 100,000 followers.

The call for the scrapping of the police brutal unit which began in 2017, recently resuscitated due to the killing of a man in Delta State about weeks ago.

While the online version of the campaign began immediately after the incident, demonstrators, earlier in the week, took to the streets nationwide. At the weekend, it went global with Nigerians in diaspora protesting in support.

So far, celebrities like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Davido, Olamide and many others have joined in the campaign.
