47-Year-Old Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Raping 14-Year-Old Stepdaughter In Calabar

A 47-year old man, Emmanuel Thompson Udo has been sentenced to a life imprisonment by the Family Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River. The man was found guilty of raping his 14-year old stepdaughter, according to reports and was convicted by Hon. Justice E.E. Ita, Acting Chief Judge of Cross River State and presiding Judge of the Family Court.

The incidence took place at his residence, No. 45 Afokang Street, Calabar South local government area of the state on Thursday, the 3rd of December, 2018.
His conviction was secured courtesy of the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI); Hon. Tanko Ashang, former Attorney General of Cross River State; Mr. Felix Itittim, the DPP; Blessing Egwu and the Nigeria Police.

The head of the BRCI, Barr. James Ibor stated that the rape incident was exposed after the victim's mother reported the matter to the group, and the victim who is now 16 years old was excited when she heard of the sentence.
He went forward to thank the Nigerian Police special investigators and everybody who put efforts together to secure justice for the teenager.
