‘NIN Holders To Pay ₦15,000 for Card Renewal’ NIMC Regional Coordinator

Mrs Funmi Opesanwo, Regional Coordinator of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that Nigerians would have to pay a ₦15,000 fee for card renewals. She made the announcement this Wednesday at the commission’s office in Alausa, Lagos State, explaining that while NIN enrolment is free, card renewal, correction of date of birth, and change of address attract fees.

According to her, holders of the National Identification Number (NIN) would have to pay a ₦15,000 processing fee to correct their dates of birth in the commission’s database.

Nigerians who intend renewing their card would also be required to pay a ₦5,000 processing fee, while address modification costs ₦5,000.

For the date of birth correction, there is a processing fee of ₦15,000.

For card renewal or card replacement, there is a processing fee of ₦5,000. For the modification of address or name, it is ₦500. So, people misconstrue this to mean that in NIMC they are asking them to pay money. No, those are for services.” Mrs Opesanwo stated.
