Born on the 1st of March, 1963, Usman Alkali Baba is the current acting Nigerian inspector-general of police.
He was appointed by the president of Nigeria to replace Mohammed Adamu who retired from service February 2020.
Originally from Geidam in Yobe State, Nigeria, Usman Alkali Baba he received a Teacher's Grade II Certificate from Teachers College, Potiskum, Yobe State in 1980.
He has a degree in political science from the Bayero University Kano, graduating in 1985.
Baba proceeded to the University of Maiduguri where he got a master's in public administration in 1997.
He was also a member of course 22/2014 2014 at the National Defence College, and got enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on the 15th of March, 1988.
Usman became an assistant superintendent of police, and was eventually promoted to become a commissioner of police on the 27th of January, 2013.
He was posted to Delta State in 2014 and became the commissioner of Police. He has served in FCT as the deputy commissioner, as well as other prominent positions.
