Imo State: Gov Hope Uzodinma Returns To Abuja Amidst Unrest

The Executive Governor of Imo State, Sen Hope Uzodinma has reportedly returned back to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, barely three days after he returned to the state. This is coming after the governor was criticized for abandoning his state for almost six days, following rising cases of insecurity in Imo, which included an attack on his country home at Omuma.

Imo State has been battling with attacks by unknown gunmen for almost a month, starting with the April 5th, 2021, attack on the Federal Correctional Facility in the state capital, which saw the release of over 1000 inmates.

There have almost been attacks on police and military formations by the gunmen, with casualties recorded amongst security operatives and civilians.

Hope Uzodinma, who had gone to Abuja before the attack, cancelled his return to the state, and after heavy criticism, returned to the state, amidst heavy security convoys.

In his May 1st address, Uzodinma accused aggrieved politicians, of sponsoring the unrest in the state, and assured that their names will be exposed soon.

It is believed Uzodinma may have returned to Abuja to continue working with Federal authorities, to unmask those behind the attacks.
