Imo State: Gov Uzodinma Yet To Pay Salaries Of Imo Workers Since March 2020

A circular made available to Browse.ng has revealed that many Imo workers have yet to receive their salaries, since March 2020, after they were paid by the Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha administration. The circular which was sent out by the Hope Uzodinma administration, requested heads of departments, to send the names of those in their departments, who were still owed their salaries, since March of 2020, which is over a year ago.

Recall that the present administration had always denied owing workers and pensioners in the state, despite protests by the affected people.

The circular by the government had exposed that there are actually workers in Imo State who have stayed without salaries for over a year under Sen Uzodinma’s watch.

Hope Uzodinma, upon taking over had promised to continue payment of salaries on the 25th of every month, as was Ihedioha’s tradition, but have failed to fulfill that promise, as those who are paid, receive their salaries, a week or two into the next month.

Even the Imo State House of Assembly lawmakers were not spared in the delay of salaries, as they are also owed their salaries and allowances, for weeks into the new month, making it hard for them to carry out their duties to their constituents.
