George Natembeya started his administrative role as a Personal Assistant (PA) to the late Minister for Security, John Michuki.


In an interview with People Daily Publication, George affirmed that “Everything I know, I learned from John Michuki," when he was asked if he picked qualities from the latter's leadership styles.


Four years later, he was promoted to a District Officer in 2003 and later, to a District Commissioner in Murang'a.


Being the District Officer, he was tasked with the role of repressing the Mungiki gang that was bullying and terrifying the citizens of the country and the suppression was effective.


In 2016, George Natembeya received an appointment by the Jubilee government as a commissioner in Isiolo and then he was transferred to Narok.


He worked to protect the water towers of Mau while working in South Rift. However, great conflict and discord began to rise from a section of Rift Valley politicians and he worked to evict more than 10,000 settlers successfully. This amassed him friends and enemies in equal amounts. 


He received a promotion to the position of Rift Valley Regional Commissioner in June 2019, replacing Chimwaga Mwongo. This is the position he currently holds as the youngest regions commissioner in Kenya.


However, George Natembeya has indicated an interest in resigning to become the second governor of Trans-Nzoia county, a position that will help him square out with his rivals in the likes of kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa.
