Broderick Stephen Harvey professionally and famously known as Steve Harvey is an all-round American entertainer, comedian, television host, radio personality, actor and an author.


He was born by Eloise Harvey and Jesse Harvey in Welch, West Virginia, United States and he is the youngest of five children. He started his career as a stand-up comedian and would later progress to become an actor.


His fame came through his flagship show, The Steve Harvey Show that ran from 1996 to 2002.  He became a household name and other shows followed. Shows such as ‘The Steve Harvey Morning Show’, the ‘Steve Harvey Talk Show’, Family Feud’, Little Big Sots’, and the ‘Steve Harvey Funderdome.’


The American entertainer has won five Daytime Emmy Awards and 14 NAACP Image Award in many categories.  He has over the years been considered one of the most talented American entertainers of all time.

Steve Harvey was born into a humble home where his mother was a Sunday-school teacher and his father, a coal miner by profession.


His family moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was young and there he completed his preliminary education from Glenville High School. Also, in Cleveland, Ohio, the family grew their own food and survived on a small income.

Steve Harvey has been married thrice. First, he married Marcia Harvey with whom he made his twin daughters and a son. After the marriage ended, he married Mary Shackelford with whom he had his second son.


Two years later in 2007, Steve Harvey married Marjorie Bridges who already had three children from her previous marriage. Together, the couple have seven children and four grandchildren.

Steve Harvey’s career might have kicked off on October 8, 1985 when he performed his first stand-up comedy on stage at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland Ohio. He gave an outstanding performance. He would later perform at small clubs before e it a big one.


He made it to the second edition of the Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search Finals in the 1990 and there was where and when he gained popularity for his talent.


However, before the American entertainer began his career in comedy. He worked as an auto worker, carpet cleaner, insurance salesperson and a mailman. 


After the 1990 Johnnie Walker Comedy Search, his stint earned him the opportunity to host the music TV show ‘It’s Showtime at the Apollo.’


In 1994, h3 bagged a starring role in the ABC show ‘Me and the Boys.’ He got a massive breakthrough in his career in 1996 when he started his flagship show ‘The Steve Harvey Show’ which ran from 1996 to 2002.


Meanwhile, Steve Harvey continued to present is stand-up comedy acts alongside his TV show. He performed alongside some other stand-up comedians, all of which were later compiled and put into a DVD film titled ‘The Original Kings of Comedy.’


In 2003, Steve Harvey started the ‘Steve Harvey’s Big Time Challenge’ where e played both the roles of a host and a comedian. The show aired on WB Network from 2003 to 2005. It was during this period that he authored a book titled ‘Steve Harvey’s Big Time.’


In 2003, Steve Harvey tried at the big screen and he starred in films titled ‘The Fighting Temptations’ and ‘Racing Stripes.’


He was already making enormous waves as an actor, comedian, TV host, and as an author by mid-2005. It was during this period that he authored his Best-Selling book titled ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.’ A movie soon followed this up ‘Think Like a Man.’ He also authored ‘Straight Talk, No Chaser,’ which was a book where he discussed how to find, keep and understand men. Also, Steve Harvey authored the book ‘Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success,’ which discussed how to discover one’s gift and the way to life’s riches.


In 2008, Steve Harvey hosted a career-focused show for tens and he called it ‘The Disney Dreamers Academy.’ He became the host of the television show, ‘Family Feud’ in 2010. Also, he hosted te Celebrity Family Feud in the same year.


In August 2012, Steve Harvey ended his 27-year-old long journey as a stand-up comedian when he presented his last performance as a stand-up comedian at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.


One month later, he debuted with the self-titled talk show titled, ‘Steve Harvey.’ The show ran until 2016 when he launched a new talk show he called ‘Steve’ in November, 2016.


He also hosts a weekday-morning radio program he calls ‘The Steve Harvey Morning Show,’ which started airing in 2005 and has continued to air until now.


Also, Steve Harvey has served as the host for the Miss Universe Pageant since 2015. He has hosted the last events in destinations like Las Vegas and Philipines.
