Ezra Olubi Biography and Career

Ezra Olubi was born on the 12th of November, 1986 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Nigeria. Upon completing his primary and secondary education, Ezra enrolled at the prestigious Babcock University, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Computer Science.

In 2016, he alongside, Shola Akinlade cofounded PayStack, one of Nigeria's biggest tech companies. PayStack currently has around 60,000 customers, including fintechs, small businesses, larger corporates, educational institutions and online betting companies. According to reports, it processes over 50% of all web payments in Nigeria.

PayStack was acquired in 2016 by Stripe for $200 million, making it one of the biggest startup acquisitions to date to come out of Nigeria, as well as Stripe’s biggest acquisition to date anywhere.

Awards and Recognition

Ezra Olubi was presented with the OON award (Order Of The Niger) by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the 2022 National Honors event. The event was conducted on October 11 and according to Buhari, was given to citizens who contribute to national development.

Over 450 Nigerians and non-Nigerians were conferred with national awards on that day.
