Imo State In Distress As Prince Asor Looses Dad To Unknown Gunmen

Imo State was thrown into a state of agony on the 14th of November, 2022 when unknown armed men stormed the palace of the traditional ruler of Obudi Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze (Dr) Ignatius Asor.

The late king was the father to notable Imo State prince and socialite, Asor Chikezie better known Beleeve Me.
While Prince Asor is yet to talk about the tragic incident on any of his social media pages, the news has been on the media and even the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has sent his condolences to the family.

According to the news, the monarch was meeting with guests when the assailants stormed his palace, killing him with two of his guests before making it into thin air.

The hoodlums reportedly came in four vehicles and two motorcycles, there was also a woman in their company and they had disguised as people in need of the monarchs' attention to an emergency situation.
He had granted them access to the palace and offered them seats before they brought out their guns.

Speaking on the matter, Imo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mohammed Ahmed Barde said;

“Sequel to a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Divisional Police Headquarters Agwa, in Oguta Local Council of Imo State, on November 14, 2022, at about 1230 hours, that, hoodlums are attacking the Palace of His Royal Highness, Eze (Dr.) Ignatius Asor, the Udi 1 of Obudi Agwa in Oguta LGA of Imo State; 

 “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), joined by the Command’s Tactical    Teams, immediately raced to the Eze’s palace, where on arrival it was discovered that the hoodlums had fled the scene. 

“The unsuspecting Royal father allowed them into his palace, sat down with them, in the process of explaining the reason for their visit, they brought out guns, shot and killed the Eze and two of his aides, and hurriedly fled the palace. On their way, they attacked officers of the Agwa vigilante group, shot one person and made away with three motorcycles.

“The police operatives armed with information from eyewitnesses traced the escape route in pursuit of the hoodlums.

“Meanwhile, the remains of deceased persons have been removed and deposited in the mortuary, and the community fortified with police operatives.”
