One day, information got to him that Marseille was on the lookout for a goalkeeper to replace reserves - Julien Fabri and Brice Samba, who were out on loan. Edouard Mendy applied and passed the club's trial, thereby their fourth-choice goalkeeper.

At Marseille, he trained with professionals such as About Diaby, Lassana Diarra and he won duels against Michy Batshuayi and Steven Fletcher.

In 2017/2018, Edouard Mendy moved to Ligue 2 Outfit Reims in search of regular playtime and there he thrived to become the club's first-choice keeper during the 2017-2018 season.

He helped the club achieve Ligue 1 before he left Rennes.
